Travel Time

Travel Time is a fun app designed for macOS Sonoma version 14.6 and later.

Have you ever wondered how long it would take, travelling at the fastest speed a human space probe has ever travelled at (the Parker Solar Probe), to reach Proxima Centauri (the closest star to Earth)? I mean, who hasn’t, right? Now, with an intuitive interface, Travel Time is ready to answer this and many of your more off-the-wall travel-related questions.

Note and Warning: Apple has validated and verified, via their notary service, this app package, but it is being distributed outside the App Store. While I, as the developer, know that the app does not introduce malware or viruses, most of you don’t know me. Would I download it if I didn’t know me? I honestly don’t know. The Internet is ripe with scams, bots and dangerous actors, making a safe and secure Mac more critical than planning a trip to a local star.

However, I also doubt that Apple will ever accept this as a submission, even if I charge $0 for it (which I would). Their standards are much higher than they were 15 years ago (a good thing), but it’s a challenging crawl for independent developers like me to get our apps published by Apple (a bad thing). So this might be the only place you’ll ever be able to download it from.

Also, this is an Alpha version of the app, so this post is more of a way for me to test my website as a distribution portal for the apps I create that Apple is not interested in. It still needs a few final touches (an About view, a simple Help system and a few more destinations and speed choices), but it is fully functional. I also plan to submit it to the Apple App Store so I will improve it even more.

Still feeling adventurous? Thanks for the trust. Click below to download the app.
